Project Challenge, process and solution
Challenge
For my personal branding project, I took on the challenge of creating a distinctive and professional identity combining elegance, minimalism, and creativity. My approach began with a deep introspection of my journey to identify my uniqueness — the evolution from surfer and founder of the Yepaa surfwear brand to designer and brand creator.
Process
This reflection led me to develop a minimalist visual identity centered around two key elements for my freelance work: a rose (embodying passion and sophistication) and a surfboard (symbolizing my surfing heritage that revealed my creativity).
Then, for my personal logo, the creative process focused on transforming the Gentleman Surfer rose into the initials D & B, establishing a strong connection between both identities. I chose a refined color palette — dark gray, black, and red — to evoke excellence and passion. This careful fusion of elements gave birth to a versatile and professional brand identity, allowing me to stand out in the design market.
Results
The success of this project lies in its ability to authentically reflect my entrepreneurial journey in surf culture while showcasing my design expertise. The brand identity establishes a memorable and distinctive presence in the industry. This personal brand positions me as a unique voice, with an image that embodies my passion for quality design while drawing inspiration from the ocean — its endless movement and energy fuel my creative approach. It's through years of experimentation with my own Yepaa project that I became a branding expert.

Brand Strategy Overview
This brand identity merges two powerful archetypes:
• The Creator: As a designer, I am driven by innovation and creative expression. My mission is to inspire and enable my clients to unleash their creative potential through unique and impactful brand identities.
• The Lover: My passion for design and desire to create deep connections with my clients are at the heart of my approach. I strive to make each client feel unique, valued, and cherished by establishing a relationship of trust that allows authentic and memorable brand identities to emerge.
This fusion of archetypes reflects my desire to combine innovative creativity and authentic relationships, creating a unique design experience for my clients.
Target audience
I created the "Gentleman Surfer Studio" image to target the core audience of my past professional network, in order to offer my services as a freelance graphic and brand designer.
While I reach a broader target audience with my personal branding, extending beyond the surf and design universe to brands that have a deep sense of purpose.
Logo design rationale
This visual identity revolves around two complementary logos:
• The first tells my story: a minimalist identity combining a rose (symbol of passion) and a surfboard. This combination reflects my entrepreneurial heritage in surfwear and my specialization in brand creation, born from years of field experimentation. I forged my branding expertise through developing my own brand, making me a designer who understands not only design but also the real business challenges my clients face.
• The second highlights my identity as a brand designer through a D&B monogram, which also evokes the shape of a heart. This symbol embodies my core values: passion, integrity, and innovation. It creates a strong emotional connection with my clients — an essential element in the creative process to make their identity shine. Because it's above all a team effort.
